Ashley Ward has the capability to precision machine: worm, helical, bevel, and spur type gears.

We have 3 high-speed Mitsubishi hobbers, with auto loading options, to handle gears up to 6" in diameter. In addition, we also are equipped with 2 high-speed Koepfer gear hobbing machines and a Lees Bradner gear hobber.
The Koepfer Model 143 gear hobber is capable of running materials up to 3.1" in diameter. We can auto load shafts up to 8.6" in length into any of our hobbing machines. With full in-house machine shop capabilities, Ashley Ward offers cost-effective metal gear cutting or hobbing services to appliance and outdoor power equipment industries seeking precision shafts.

Gear Hobbing Features Worm Gear Cutting:
- Worm Gears are similar to screws, with teeth in a 360 degree profile. They have a high gear ratio in a small space. 

Bevel Gear Cutting: 
- Bevel gears are conical in shape but do not extend to their vertex.

Rack and Pinion Gear Cutting:
- Rack and pinion gears have a rack, or toothed rod operated by a pinion gear converting torque into a straight line movement. 

Helical Gear Cutting:
- Helical gears have angled teeth that provide for a slower, smoother motion.
