Aluminum Screw Machining
2011-T3, 6061-T6, and 6024/6262-T9 are the most common types of aluminum machined parts we produce in our shop. Each of these grades have specific pros and cons that make or don’t make them the right fit for certain aluminum machining projects.
2011-T3 Aluminum Machining
This grade features a free machining capability, as indicated in the SFM cutting speed of 500, which makes producing parts rapidly a reality. The con of 2011-T3 can be seen in the lack of corrosion resistance.
6061-T6 Aluminum Machined Parts
6061-T6 aluminum can be hard anodized and is also corrosion resistant. 6061-T6 is tough aluminum machining, described by the SFM cutting speed of 250. This grade is used when strength and corrosion resistance are required. We see this grade in a wide variety of aluminum screw machine products.
