Ashley Ward has worked with this client for more than six years to
thoroughly revamp our quality system. Initially, this meant scrutinizing every
step involved in producing the parts – from handling the blueprints and
operating the assembly line, to shipping the product.
We reviewed each step in the manufacturing process to find
possible places where improvements could be made. “We don’t just hope
that a product turns out well,” says Terry Bien, Ashley Ward Executive
Vice President. “There’s a system with procedures in place that
assures it.”
The next step was to make machinery and equipment improvements.
Ashley Ward invested millions of dollars in purchasing the latest, most
technically advanced manufacturing equipment.
Ashley Ward also set up an online computer EDI tie-in to their
inventory requirements. With this in place, we matched our production to
theirs. We put the equipment and the backup systems in place to handle any
sudden increase in productions. It allows us to provide daily, just-in-time
delivery to their assembly lines. as a result, they don’t have to maintain
a warehouse full of inventory. |
